Diary comic
Occupational angst in the year 2109.

Garbage Time All-Stars
The MVP race heats up. Kobe gets off the couch and presses a button.

ALSO: We are now selling prints of stuff from Garbage Time All-Stars. Read all about it and stock up for next Valentine's Day.

ALSO: Garbage Time All-Stars now has its very own Facebook page. FRIENDSHIP!

OK, stay vigilant.

rummaging through beans
I'm gonna try to do these little updates in a more weekly fashion from now on. Here's what's been going on:

Diary comic
I've added my incessant moan to the diary comic genre. Only my diary comic isn't about me and it's set in the year 2109.

Being The Real Shaq
Mark and I have done a bunch of Garbage Time All-Stars comics this season. A fat bunch. The most recent is a day in the life of The Big Twitter, Shaquille O'Neal. Vitamin Gravy and the Diss Journal, Vol. 7.
ALSO: Garbage Time All-Stars now has its very own Facebook page. Bigtime!

Winter Orb painting
Yeah, that's right, I'm redrawing old Magic cards. Shut up. Winter Orb is nasty business.

That's all for now. Come back next week for something similar yet totally different.

adios, year

OK, thought I'd drop by my own website to say, "Hi. What's up? Can I get you a drink? Oh, uh, sorry, all we have is expired soy milk."

It's that time of year when everyone is doing "best of" lists. I'm not going to do one of those because I'd forget someone, or have crummy methodology or ... basically those things suck. They're bloated with more of the same from the pantheon, overhyped mediocrities, darlings and slick packages. And yes, of course there are good books there too, more than ever, but here are five of the actual best from this year that aren't making enough lists:

The Hot Breath of War by Alixopulos
Bourbon Island 1730 by Appollo and Lewis Trondheim
BFF by Nate Beatty
Gus and His Gang by Chris Blain
The Rabbi's Cat 2 by Joann Sfar

You know, not comprehensive or anything, but you should read those.

As for me:
If you're an NBA fan, Mark and I have cranked up the machine over at Garbage Time All-Stars, as well as the Yahoo! NBA blog, Ball Don't Lie. I've been posting more doodles and sketches on Flickr. And yes, I'm working on some comics. Next year is going to be much more about getting my own comics done. Book it. And check this space for further developments.
I've decided to suspend my Blogger sketchblog because I upload all of that jonk to Flickr anyway, and I like Flickr better. So, go to my Flickr to gaze upon stuff like:

neck pain

Other news:

The NBA season is grinding to a start, so new Garbage Time All-Stars strips are gonna be sprouting up like fresh athlete's foot. Tremble!

Rina and Thien's Comix Claptrap podcast is up to episode three! Seriously, treat yourself to the most listenable comics podcast around, bursting with outrageous opinions, saucy banter, in-depth interviews (this week: Alixopulos), and little ol' me reporting from the comic shop trenches.

And, oh my goodness, the Alternative Press Expo is almost here! November 1 & 2 I'll be at the Concourse in San Francisco, tabling with Joey Alison Sayers. I'll have comics and shirts for sale, and every purchase comes with a free high-five. Seriously, it's been a 18 months since the last APE. Do NOT miss this!
doubledog

Sketch blog update.

ALSO: buddies Rina and Thien have started a podcast called Comix Claptrap. I am their roving reporter, absorbing elbows and paper cuts down at the comic shop every Wednesday to bring you a summary of the best new comics. The first episode has a swell interview with Vanessa Davis. Fill your ears.
brother against brother

That's a nightly battle at my house. Born into the same litter. Schooled in the savage art of ear-biting. Now on opposite sides of who gets to sit on the choicest cushions. Up at the sketch blog.
Water Column #1
New semi-political/mostly-smartass doodle up at my sketch blog. I started doing the sketch blog just to post some random drawings that didn't belong anywhere else. Now I guess I could post things directly here but I kinda like the idea of having a renegade blog running wild outside the bounds of the usual website. So I'm keeping it.
Water Column #1
Water Column #1 is the latest in my series of wordless natural history comics. I debuted the book at this recent San Diego Comic-Con but it hasn't been available on my site until now.

This issue focuses on the plankton that power marine food chains. It's the first part of a three-issue story arc. Look at sample art and order the book here.
Garbage time is nigh
I just did a post over at Garbage Time All-Stars with some concept art for a Golden State Warriors mascot reboot. You heard me.

Anyway, Mark and I have been chilling in the NBA off-season but we're starting to pump iron, eat right, and work on new NBA comics. The strip will once again appear first on Yahoo! Sports: Ball Don't Lie and then on our GTAS site, where we will also post assorted extra juicy tidbits. Garbage time is nigh!
New website which you are looking at right now at this very moment
Heeeey, I've changed a bunch of stuff about my website, including how it looks. WOW! The main thing is that it will allow me to post more frequently on the status of all of my assorted projects. I plan to post a lot. Don't think of it as a website. Think of it as my NEXUS OF POWER.
